Interview preparation

Our interviews are conducted along our leadership principles. They describe our way of working – make yourself familiar with them in preparation for the interviews and think about how you’ve already been demonstrating them in your own professional experiences. You will find a short description as well as an example question for each of our principles down below.

Customer obsession

Leaders start with the customer and work backwards. They work vigorously to earn and keep customer trust.
Tell me about a time when you didn't meet customer expectations. What happened, and how did you deal with the situation?

Extreme ownership

As "extreme owners" leaders think long term and don’t sacrifice long-term for short-term results. They never say “that’s not my job" since they are responsible for all tasks that affect their mission’s success.
Tell me about a time when you took on a task that was beyond your job responsibilities.

Invent & simplify

Leaders expect and require innovation and invention from their teams and always find ways to simplify. They are externally aware, look for new ideas from everywhere and are not limited by “not invented here."
Tell me about a time when you tried to simplify a process but failed. What would you have done differently?

Accept failure as a path to mastery

Leaders have strong judgment and good instincts. They seek diverse perspectives and work to disconfirm their beliefs. They embrace experimentation and failure as a path to mastery and success.

Have backbone, disagree and commit

Leaders are obligated to respectfully challenge decisions when they disagree, even when doing so is uncomfortable or exhausting. do not compromise for the sake of social cohesion but motivate teams to seek truth.
Describe a time when you disagreed with the approach of a team member. What did you do?

Deliver results.

Leaders are intrinsically motivated and focus on the key inputs for their business to deliver them with the right quality and in a timely fashion. Despite setbacks, they rise to the occasion and never settle.
Give an example of a time when you had to handle a variety of assignments. What was the outcome?

Technical assignment

After our initial call, we forward you a technical assignment. It will be a basic coding exercise for which you will get one week of time prior to the technical interview in which you have to present your solution. The solution should normally take you a couple of hours; but we’re also aware that you may not be able to work fully on this. If you believe that something is not clear, just make an assumption and mention that assumption in your response.

If there is no technical assignment for the position you applied to, we kindly ask you to prepare some of your programming examples to present in the technical interview.
